THREE SIDES OF THE MIDDLE
INDUSTRY
THE IN-BETWEEN
For studios, creative organisations, funders and partners who want to support, discover and connect with emerging creative talent.
For students, graduates and early-career creatives building confidewnce, visability and a clearer creative voice beyond education.
EDUCATORS
For universities, tutors and course teams looking to give student work a wider platform beyond assessment, portfolios and degree shows.
MIDLE brings emerging creatives, educators and industry together through print, events and conversation. We give creative work a wider audience and create space for people at different stages of their practice to share experiences, exchange ideas and make connections.
Whether you’re finding your creative voice, supporting students or working within the industry, there is a place for you here. Together, we can help more work travel beyond the classroom, degree show or portfolio and into the wider creative community.
THE PROBLEM IS SHARED.
Creative ability is only part of finding your place. Having opportunities to show your work, explain your ideas and meet people beyond your course or existing network matters too.
MIDLE grew from conversations with students, educators and creative practitioners about these experiences. Their perspectives helped shape a publication and platform focused on confidence, visibility, communication and professional connection.
STUDENT
“We don’t really see enough of other people’s work. Outside things like Degree Show banners or one-off displays, we don’t really get to see much. It would be good to see more student work.”
Anonymous Student
Graphic Design Student, York St John University
CREATIVE
"There is a kind of sweet spot between learning something new, practising your own craft, and networking."
Sarah Williams
Managing Director, York Creatives
EDUCATOR
"There is something needed in the middle — between the student and the fully established figure."
Helen Julia Minors
Professor and Head of the School of Arts, York St John University
